Parents: Do you want your kids to learn more about the Bible? Wouldn’t it be great to hear them recite memory verses and talk to you about Moses or Abraham over the dinner table? Wouldn’t it be amazing to see them grow in their faith and their understanding of God’s love? Can you imagine the day they tell you they want to be baptized?

As parents blessed with four amazing children, Chris and I have had many opportunities to watch our children grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus.  As much as we’d like to take credit for it, we know we can’t.  The responsibility to raise our children to eventually become men and women of strong faith is completely daunting.  We know we can’t do it alone.  That’s why we believe so strongly in the children’s programs at VCCC.  So, I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you about some of the great programs available for children.

1.  Nursery. Our nursery serves children birth through age 2 during both services and Sunday School. We have several loving people who serve in this ministry and love the opportunity to rock babies, read to toddlers, and push trucks and trains all around the room. They know this ministry is not just about the kids though, it’s about affording parents the opportunity to be ministered to. And they have a lot of fun doing it!

2.  Sunday School. This is, in my opinion, one of the best programs at our church. Kids are divided up by age and learn Biblical stories and principals in an age-appropriate manner. They memorize verses, do crafts, sing songs and learn all the Biblical stories that they’ll one day remember as adults. We’ve got Sunday School classes starting at age 2 on up. Even your 2 yr old can be learning about Jesus –not just playing in the nursery.

3.  Children’s Church. For school-age children, Children’s Church is an opportunity to be surrounded by other children their own age and learn how the Bible is applicable in their own lives. They do relevant craft projects that reinforce the lesson and have lots of fun in the process. This is a great place to grow in Christ!

4.  Kids Club. Kids Club is in full swing, but there’s always room for more kids to join. It meets Sunday nights at 6pm during the school year and there are classes for ages 2 - 6th grade. This is a great opportunity for the kids to be around other children for a time of worship, and a chance to learn more about the Bible and develop a closer relationship with God. The kids do lessons, crafts, and fun activities as they learn more about god and the Bible.

5.  Wednesday Night. Yes, we do have a program for kids on Wednesday nights. Some of you may not have know that. We’ve got a mixed-age class that does a variety of activities from craft projects to topical studies. Come check it out!

6.  Monthly Activities. Kids just want to have fun! And so do adults. We’re trying to plan a fun activity each month for the kids to participate in. Whether it is playing at the splash pad together, a bowling night, an ice cream social, or a parent’s night out. We’ve got a lot planned for the coming months. We want the kids to always know that church is fun. So watch for more details each month.

Parents, here’s where you come in.  Kids can’t get themselves to church!  We need your help and your involvement.  We need you to bring your kids to these amazing programs offered at VCCC.  Not only will they be ministered to, but it’s also an opportunity for you to be ministered to as well.  There are always adult activities going on at the same time.  I really believe God has some amazing things planned for VCCC and look forward to what that means for the children.
