We are pleased to announce that VCCC is starting an in-house clothing ministry. Our mission is to serve our immediate church family, as well as provide outreach to the community for individuals and families who are in need of basic clothing items due to financial need or some type of crisis situation.
We have recently been aware of families who were in need of clothing due to fires, domestic violence, unemployment, and other crisis situations and we would like to be able to provide some immediate assistance to individuals in those situations.
“Second Blessing Clothing Ministry” is now accepting donations of gently used clothing items and shoes for men, women, children and teens of all ages and sizes. All donated items should be cleaned or dry cleaned if necessary, and in good repair. As a good rule of thumb, if you or a member of your family would wear an item, then it would be a good item to pass on to your church family or to the community.
Additionally, Second Blessing is also starting a hygiene pantry to address emergency needs. We are now accepting donations of new, unopened hygiene products (soap, shampoo, deodorant, disposable razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
The goal of this ministry is to meet individual need as much as our donations and available resources permit. We will also refer people to other community resources to help meet the individual need.
So how can you help? Have you been looking for an opportunity to clean out those closets and drawers for a good cause? Have you been holding on to anything that is the wrong size, color or style for you or a family member but that would greatly bless and benefit someone else the second time around? The suit you no longer wear could be worn by someone to a job interview. That winter coat could keep someone cozy and warm. That box of children’s clothes your kiddo has outgrown could help a family in a crisis situation. That extra bottle of shampoo could meet a basic need.
Be creative. Pay it forward. Pass it on! A collection tub is in the church foyer. If you have questions, please contact Larry Sherrill at 755-2049 or Michelle Pryor at 516-3953 or
